Traditional Maryland Crab Soup with Old Bay

A rich and flavorful soup that showcases the taste of Maryland crab combined with the unique seasoning of Old Bay.

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 4 cups seafood stock
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 pound lump crab meat
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until soft.
  3. Stir in tomatoes and cook for another 5 minutes.
  4. Pour in seafood stock and add Old Bay seasoning, bringing to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat and let simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. Add crab meat and heavy cream, stirring gently.
  7. Heat through and serve hot, garnished with parsley.

Notes

  • For a spicier soup, add additional Old Bay seasoning.
  • Can use lump or backfin crab meat for different textures.
