Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups peeled, chopped apples
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugars together.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, and add the vanilla.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients.
  6. Fold in the apples and walnuts.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased baking pan.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let it cool before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add raisins or cranberries.
