  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 cup cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup chopped strawberries

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, mix the buttermilk, egg, and melted butter.
  3. Combine the wet and dry mixtures until just blended.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth.
  5. Preheat the waffle maker and pour batter according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  6. For each waffle, add a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture and chopped strawberries before closing the waffle maker.
  7. Cook until golden brown and crisp.
  8. Serve warm with additional strawberries on top.

Notes

  • For extra sweetness, drizzle with chocolate sauce.
  • These waffles can be made ahead of time and reheated in a toaster oven.
