Healthier Banana Bread

A delicious and healthier alternative to traditional banana bread, this recipe is moist and guilt-free.

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the bananas.
  3. Add honey, applesauce, and eggs; mix until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine flour, oats, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring just until combined.
  6. If using, fold in walnuts or chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool before slicing.

Notes

  • For a vegan version, substitute the eggs with flax eggs.
  • You can use ripe banana puree instead of mashed bananas for a smoother texture.
