Ingredients

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 1/4 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 24 ladyfingers
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until creamy.
  2. Heat milk in a saucepan and gradually whisk it into the egg mixture.
  3. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens.
  4. Remove from heat and let it cool before folding in mascarpone cheese.
  5. In another bowl, whip heavy cream to soft peaks, then fold into the mascarpone mixture.
  6. Combine coffee and liqueur in a shallow dish.
  7. Dip ladyfingers quickly in the coffee mixture, then layer them in a dish.
  8. Spread half the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers, repeat layers.
  9. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  10. Before serving, dust with cocoa powder.

Notes

  • For a stronger coffee flavor, let the coffee cool completely before dipping the ladyfingers.
  • Feel free to sprinkle chocolate shavings on top for extra indulgence.
